All the fun of the fair 1

The Christmas lights were switched on in Droitwich the other week, and there was also all the fun ofthe fair to accompany that event. Sadly it poured with rain all day and into the evening. This picture was taken at about 4.30 in the afternoon!

Proof that Old Tiff's contention that it always rains in Droitwich perhaps holds some water.........

I think the rain adds to it Bill, a lovely shot.
Bill Phillips: I wouldn't have taken it without Sally.

I thought people went to Droitwich specially for the water, though I suppose that didn't mean rain....
Bill Phillips: They used to until they closed the brine baths Penny!

Lousy weather, Bill, but you exploited it brilliantly!
Bill Phillips: This was the eventing they switched on the Christmas lights. i tiik this at about 4.30 in the afternoon!
You made the rain work for you in this shot Bill... great reflections....petersmile
Bill Phillips: It was the only good thing about the weather Peter.

Look at the thronging crowds revelling in the Christmas spirit!
Bill Phillips: It was a shame as last year the little dictator running the town council decided she didn't want the fair. This year it was back as she has moved on to higher things. Then it goes and rains, and boy did it rain!!

My guess is Tiff is almost never wrong, Bill. Astrid and my motto is that nothing rains on our parade wherever we go. And even though we may get spots of rain here-n-there, it mostly holds true! grin

You know, of course, that especially car adverts will usually have hosed-down driveways for their specimens!
Bill Phillips: good grief Ginnie. I hope he doesn't see this!! It poured down and was very cold. It was the switch on of the Christmas lights and at least a reasonable crowd turned up for that but it wasn't much fun!!

This is a wonderful shot and because of the rain you got here some great reflections.
You know what they say; after rain there will be sunshine (It might take a few years though wink)
Bill Phillips: The sun is shining from a clear blue sky today. This was the 24th of November when the Christmas lights were switched on and our Santa Grotto opened. Boy did it rain!

If colour means fun, you are right - and there are some stunning reflections - and the atmosphere of continuing rain day in day out has been captured well , but I am not sure if I should book garden holidays in Shropshire in June next year?
Bill Phillips: It doesn't rain all the time and Shropshire is beautiful so you should come

Raining in Droitwich! You're pulling my leg Bill. Good to see a couple of people still determined to witness the great event.
Bill Phillips: honest, this rain has not been photoshopped in Chad
Nice colours refleted in the pavement - at least rain has some use!
Bill Phillips: Indeed Sarah. i would not probably have bothered to take any pictures otherwise
Using all the usual tools ( wet streets, darkness, lighting and reflections) to get a 'not bad' image Bill.
Bill Phillips: Damned with faint praise

Droitwich does hold some water it seems. Some hardy types on the ride in the background, making profit of a 'no queue' moment.
Bill Phillips: It poured down and was cold with it. Shame for all the people who had put a lot of work into the day

Windy, too, Bill - it looks quite desolate in spite of the lights
Bill Phillips: It was bl**dy miserable Lisl.
Your rain has made a brilliant and colourful street shot.
Bill Phillips: I certainly helped Mary but that isn't much consolation for the fairground people

Makes a great photo though Bill - and not depressing at all ;o)
Bill Phillips: It was a bit depressing being there, very wet and very cold! Still I got a few pictures!
Such a shame when this happens, people do try their best to get things going. The weather always has the final say. Nice capture though Bill.
Bill Phillips: It was a shame as they had made a big effort.
Oh dear what a wash out. Great for photographers though
Bill Phillips: It was a very wet day. It just kept on raining and was dark by about 3pm!!

Some brave souls on one of the rides. You've done well with the conditions and they have actually worked in your favour with the reflections. At least the rain has not affected telphone calls smile
Bill Phillips: There are always a few brave souls! The rain made the pictures I have posted but didn't do much for anything else. It is a shame the rain doesn't ruin mobile phones

Lovely reflections and colours
Bill Phillips: Thank you Anne, about the only good thing the rain did!
Fairs have that effect in my experience - it always rains when there is a fair in town smile
Bill Phillips: I know what you mean Tom. Actually we have been quite lucky over the years here but not this time
My word it must have been an awful day if this is only 4.30pm.
Bill Phillips: It was dark by 3pm Brian!!
Fine shot Bill, I like the colourful reflections!
Bill Phillips: The only good thing about the rain was the reflections off the wet road!
Not a good day for business, but a good photo opportunity smile
Bill Phillips: I didn't linger long it was chucking it down all day!
Quite a nice atmospheric shot Bill. Night is falling early at yours!
Bill Phillips: That is what happens when you put the clocks back an hour in the Autumn Richard!
I can see strains of Bournemouth in this Bill, nice colours!
Bill Phillips: It has been a year for rain Fred!
It makes for a very atmospheric shot thought!
Bill Phillips: There was a lot of atmosphere Elizabeth, most of it seemed to fall on me grin
You took care of it very well Bill! I wonder if you helped the lady with all those bags..
Bill Phillips: To my shame i did not Juan Carlos, not long after i took this I went home!

Awesome..These contrasting colors in pavement reflections are amazing.
Bill Phillips: Thank you very much. Pleased you like it
What is it with you and crap weather? Good for the reflections, though.
Bill Phillips: Just lucky i guess. I just got back from being Santa on an open sleigh.....cold and wet! Mind you it was good fun
