Worcester Guildhall 1

Recently there was one of these Heritage open weekends, when buildings not normally open are opened to the public. The Guildhall in Worcester is open in part but for this event almost all of it was  so we went to have a look. Kathryn and Helen came too. If you look really hard you might just be able to see Helen in the top left of this picture.

Bill Phillips: We got there early so i was able to get some pictures without too many people in them!
Fantastick depth in this perfectly framed picture Bill....petersmile

Wonderful picture of a place where there could be a big ballroom dance. Wonderful perspective.
Bill Phillips: A friend of our Helen had her wedding reception in here recently.
wow what a view. and very expressive with all the details highlighted very well
Bill Phillips: It is a magnificent room in a beautiful building Ayush

Imagine having to polish a floor like that! Anyway these open events are good & to be encouraged
Bill Phillips: Indeed they are. Helen's friend had her wedding reception in here

I can see someone but would not recognise Helen from so far away. A fine looking room and the floor gives great perspective here.
Bill Phillips: Nor would I Chad.

Fabulous example of the vanishing-point perspective, Bill, of which I am a fan (as you surely know by now!).
Bill Phillips: I had suspected that Ginnie

That is an impressive Guildhall with a beautiful ceiling. I remember that we had such an open heritage Day in our country on the same day (perhaps an European insitution? - wonderful!)
Did you dance along the hall inspired by Johann Strauss - in any case the ideal place for waltzing 1-2-3-....
Bill Phillips: I can't dance to save my life Philine. It certainly would lend it self to a grand ball though
Just missing Chad and Chris waltzing in the foreground.
Bill Phillips: What a wonderful image that conjours up

Not only open but allowing cameras - apparently the initiative is now short of funding so you may have had a unique day. Fine perspective.
Bill Phillips: This part of the Guildhall is often open but other parts were only open on this open day. A friend of Helen's had her wedding reception in here

What a place, like a 10-pin bowling alley - a very fancy one at that.
Bill Phillips: Hahaha It does look a bit like one
That is one looooong room. Whatever would someone use it for?
Bill Phillips: A friend of Helen's had her wedding reception in here.
On the estate near me, they have these open weekends, but they call them burglaries! Some place, Bill.
Bill Phillips: Ah yes an all too common phenomenon these days Frank.
A great perspective Bill! The decoration is rich, I wonder what they used this room for?
Bill Phillips: I don't know about originally but these days it is used for all sorts of events. A friend of our Helen had her wedding reception here
Fine room to run shuttle relay races in the wet winter months.
I wonder how often they have to replace the floor polishing machine.
Bill Phillips: It is all done by hand using a duster Richard
Rather magnificent isn't it. Great POV Bill
Bill Phillips: It is a beautiful building Janet
What a huge and splendid hall, no doubt many lavish events have taken place here.
Bill Phillips: And still do Martin. They do wedding receptions
That's a pretty imposing gallery!
Bill Phillips: It is inded Tom. The Guildhall is a fine building and has survived the wholesale demolition of many good buildings in the 60s and 70s
Very good... I especially like all the lines & the different shapes in the ceiling too.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Jacquelyn. It is a beautiful building
A fine room, lovely ceiling, and well worth the early start to avoid lots of people.
Bill Phillips: We had a guided tour!
A fine capture Bill, love the textures and tones.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Fred. One of Worcester's finest buildings
What a wonderful perspective Bill!

very impressive, Bill. I like the perspective. The floor would soon get marked if you let the Great Unwashed to trad all over it.

Worth the price of entrance just for this shot, Bill.
Wow! A skittle alley and a half!
