I would have thought, in England, that the correct wording for this sign would have been either

No Bathing
No Swimming

or

No Bathing
nor Swimming

Good to see Rodgering is still ok, though, Bill.
Bill Phillips: A relief to many Ray
I thought that swimming and bathing were the same thing if you did it outside Bill... are they afraid that the people will pollute the water or the opposite....petersmile
Bill Phillips: I suppose bathing is splashing about on the edge....or perhaps it isn't

Hopefully dreadful photography is banned but as it is your good self wielding the equipment that is very much an unlikely scenario - we hope! The pink flower is incidentally Balsam, an unwelcome visitor to our shores
Bill Phillips: It is everywhere. didn't know it was a naughty foreigner. Sad to say your hopes will be dashed

No path, no boat - but surely an eldorado for a lot of animals and weed plants....
Bill Phillips: there were boats further on Philine and I was standing on the path grin.

The vegetation would deter any approach to the water in any case unless wearing a diver's suit. I never really considered that bathing made be different to swimming in the context of open water. Hence bathing machines and no swimming machines, I guess.
Bill Phillips: sounds plausible to me Alan

I hope walking isn't going to be the next thing banned, or your series will come to an abrupt end, Bill!
Bill Phillips: that might have been a good thing Lisl

Dropping litter, shooting animals, catching and killing swans, murder, not taxing your vehicle, theft...oh the list goes on Bill, it is very interesting.
Bill Phillips: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ......really?

So water skiing would be fine then. Mind you if it was my river I wouldn't like the idea of everyone coming down to bathe - sounds so biblical! Its what we have public baths for - oh sorry, we have closed all those and the outside lidos.
Bill Phillips: We have an outdoor lido in Droiters.....
Fishing....it's got to be!
Bill Phillips: There were further signs and just about anything you might think of doing was banned....there was even a local by-law that banned you from doing something or other
Now if it said beware of the leeches that might work, in the context of water anyway, but of course would be a given anywhere else smile
Bill Phillips: You been watching The African Queen?
I think you're supposed to keep your clothes on.
Bill Phillips: I have long since decided it is in the public interest that I keep my clothes on Mary
But romantic walks and stuff are quite welcome.
Bill Phillips: Anything is welcome as long as you don't actually do anything
£100 fine, quite moderate by local authority standards, they usually start at £1,000.
Bill Phillips: Perhaps they make an allowance for the fact that no one in their right mind would go bathing or swimming here
Why would anyone try to swim through a clump of greenery.
Bill Phillips: Well this is Worcestershire Tom
Quite legitimate so far Bill.
Bill Phillips: That's OK then Richard
Not Himalayan Balsam by the look of it, another season's growthh and the river won't be seen anyway
Bill Phillips: Well that's a possibility I suppose
So did you go for a paddle, then?
Bill Phillips: The answer is in the negative
Walking and photographing...
Bill Phillips: I think there are those who would like to ban the latter
