My dad used to sing the song in the bathroom in combination of playing the trumpet. He was his own orchestra.
He almost sang it better than Bobby.
Great picture BTW of the mural.
Bill Phillips: It is a great song and I was brought up on this version. Always liked Bobby Darin even though this isn't really my sort of music

Blimey - this must make Droitwich one of the most dangerous places on earth!
Bill Phillips: It is a good job it didn't see your sausage....(I could have phrased that better)
Nice bit of graffiti Bill.
Bill Phillips: Done for the water festival Les

The smashed fence is a nice touch - I see it isn't actually graffiti on the wall but on perspex panels!
Bill Phillips: Well spotted Mike. It was done for the water festival, and I assume it has gone now..I must go and have a look
I was wondering how they managed to paint this until I noticed Mike's comment about perspex panels!
Bill Phillips: It was quite effective Fred!

Like how they improvised on the railings Bill to get it all in.
Remember the song well.
Bill Phillips: It was a bit of fun at the water festival Peter.
He's filled with sausages no doubt. Good capture.
Bill Phillips: too good for the likes of him!!

I know the song as "Mackie Messer", written by Bert Brecht (Three Pennies Opera) , composed by Kurt Weill..- I like the 'mural'/perspex panel , painted by school classes? I saw in Bristol also lovely murals to decorate the town -Droitw├╝rst?
Bill Phillips: Bobby Darin had a big hit with it in both the UK and US in 1959 when it topped the charts on both countries.

Bill Phillips: One of the greats, even if, like me, you are not really into jazz
I'm not keen on graffiti and wall art but it is a very good one isn't it.
Bill Phillips: It was good fun Brian and done for the water festival

How clever you are, Bill. Oh, I thought at firt sight it was a mixture of two photos. But you are clever, anyway!
Bill Phillips: I'll settle for that grin
Some horrifying stories about Great Whites these days.
Bill Phillips: Apart from basking sharks and dogfish, this species is best avoided!
This is quite a nice piece of art Bill! (Just a question of taste...)
Bill Phillips: It was fun for the water festival event Richard
Got to laugh at Lisl, you clever.
Bill Phillips: You are in the minority in not appreciating my genius Shaw.
Wow, now that's pretty cool! Did you see the Bobby Darin biography "Beyond the Sea" with Kevin Spacey? Very well done, and Spacey did his own singing.
Bill Phillips: No I haven't seen it. I bought some Bobby Darin singles in the early 60s and have always liked his version of If I were a Carpenter.
