I suppose it might be under Viking management?

Oh dear. Perhaps it was done by authentic Italians who don't know the English word for Northern? ** OR maybe they're from New Jersey. Seriously - say it with a Jersey accent- and phonetically this is spelled correctly! smile
Bill Phillips: You have summed up the problem. People are spelling as they speak and nobody seems to think that it matters. This sign has been professionally produced and it is wrong. I suppose I am just getting grumpier with age but when people use your when they mean you're and yourself when they mean you and so on and so on...I get really mad gringringrin

But the owners will be native Italians (see Elizabeth)- and that is essential for a good Ristorante! By tasting you 'll haved to judge.
Bill Phillips: I don't mind if the menu is full of errors if the food is good and reasonably pricedgrin

Lol at your reply on the first comment - luv it -oh, how often even English native speakers are spelling in a wrong or funny way - but I have to agree the orthography of the English language to be quite more difficult than the French or Italian one; the German one is easy, but not for pupils and the grammar is very complicated for foreigners.
Bill Phillips: The standard of English on Facebook is alarming. It isn't just me. Kathryn complains as much as I do!

They need a slogan to get them started. What about "We're More Than Northan?"

Well it's a start...
Bill Phillips: I need to go and lie in a darkened room
You should email them this picture Bill.Wonder what the menu looks like.
Bill Phillips: I hope it is written by somebody literate but more importantly i hope the food is good. We have a favourite Italian restaurant in Worcester but it would be nice to have one on our doorstep. I never liked the one that used to be in this same premises

Perhaps it was supposed to be "Northants. Italian Restaurant" - ok maybe not ;o) I always had difficulty spelling restaurant as a child - mainly because I had never been to one!
Bill Phillips: nice try Mike. I don't think our generation went to restaurants much. Well not until the 60s anyway.

A bit more southan flair should be depicted on this sign - Pizza, Spag(h)etti, Cap(p)uc(c)ino, Latte Mac(c)iato -everybody knows the words, but my mother often got angry about the wrong Italian spelling, and sometimes she corrected the words on the menu (e) card!
(Sorry: the grammar is complicate!)
Bill Phillips: The more you think about it the more complex language is.

Its surprisingly many signs have wrongly spelt words in them Bill,

Well spotted and hope the Menu doesn't have too many.
Bill Phillips: People don't seem to think it matters. If the food is good I will forgive themgrin
I am always amazed how many signs, menus, etc have spelling errors.
Bill Phillips: It is the professionally produced ones that really make you wonder!
Oh dear the state of education these days. We have a fine Italian restaurant but have only been there once, mind you it is a bit pricey.
Bill Phillips: I think texting and Facebook have a lot to answer for grin
I hope they can cook better than they can spell...
Bill Phillips: If they can I will forgive them Larrygrin
Spelling is not a natural thing for everyone Bill!
But it could have been checked before being displayed...
Bill Phillips: Me included Richard! I think that this sort of thing is very unprofessional

Bill Phillips: I am hoping so
