The annual watching paint dry festival 1

An annual event in the Lido park in Droitwich. A team of decorators paint the bandstand and then relaxing music is played to the competitors who have to try and stay awake until the paint has dried. This team of three (and their invigilator) were amongst the favourites having won the title in 2006 and 2009 and were runners up in 2010. Sadly this time they were disqualified when the one lady accidently set her buggy in motion and this was deemed to be artificial stimulation.

Four ladies who, judging by all the matching and toning colours, obviously take pride in their appearance. Wel caught Bill.
Bill Phillips: They do look very smart indeed Sheila

They'll nag her for the rest of the year for that mishap, Bill...her life will be miserable.
Bill Phillips: And she was the team captain
Certainly a motley crew!
Bill Phillips: They are a fine group of Droitwich citizenry Elizabeth
there's always a next time
Bill Phillips: Very true ayushwink
Four talented ladies just playing it cool.

A word of warning to Elizabeth: Your time might well come ... You never know what's just round the corner.
Bill Phillips: Looking very chic i thought
A pity they were disqualified Bill. They'll probably be in a better position next year!
Fine capture.
Bill Phillips: Droitwich folk are very resilient Richard

Not as testing as it used to be in the good old days of oil based paint. Competitions could extend over several days, particularly on damp days in the North West.
Bill Phillips: Bit of white lead primer in November....dry by May!

This is clearly the most exciting annual event in Droiters. The lady on the right seems to be engaged in completing the advanced Soduko competition in the weekly 'How to leave Droitwich' magazine.
Bill Phillips: She is the invigilator and gives marks for artistic interpretation and technical merit which are used in the vent of a tie. The magazine is called "It could be worse, you could be in Bath"

My sincere wish is that none of these ladies are even remotely interested in artificial stimulation Bill...
Bill Phillips: I doubt if any ladies would wish artificial stimulation from you Chris

People will do anything to get there picture taken Bill might be us in a few years time.
Bill Phillips: you could well be right. I'm going downhill fast grin
They look like a bunch of pretty tough judges!
Bill Phillips: We breed them tough in Droitwich Tom
That's why they wear those skirts then - to keep awake. Hmmm.
Bill Phillips: There are many tactics involved Mary
Spice girls reunion? I must have missed this!?

Like the action here. I think the lady on the mobility scooter is really blind and scooter has some sort of gps navigation system. I once rented an American car which had Braille on the controls.
Bill Phillips: The sad thing is I can believe that
They certainly seem to be very engrossed in whatever is happening except for the lady on the right who has no doubt reached an interesting article in the latest edition of Cosmopolitan.
Bill Phillips: Is Cosmo still going Brian?

The English ladies love flowers and colours as I often noticed in England. It is a fine social and decorating action! I thought you as Spezi in puncto paints would support the ladies's jury? I admire the blind lady with her mobility scooter- her inner eyes may 'see' the colours?
Bill Phillips: She wasn't blind....the sun was actually shininggrin I think we are a nation of gardeners and flower lovers. Even me!
