Don't just book it...

Thomas Cook it!

Will the oldest travel agent in the world survive into 2012? Are they going too far downmarket?

Vintage will be de rigueur in 2012 I suspect Bill!
Bill Phillips: I am going to holiday in my back garden

Luxury!

Thomas may not last much longer...I think they have lost the plot with Internet competition.
Bill Phillips: a lot of companies just don't seem to have grasped the significance of the internet. Frankly it does not surprise me. The Motor industry failed to see change coming in this country and was swept away by Japanese cars and motorcycles.
I enjoyed the humor smile I hope Thomas Cook does not close, I will have to find another place to purchase euros ):
Bill Phillips: Come to England then you can buy pounds instead
I like this image - it's great in B&W! Does anyone use a travel agent anymore?
Bill Phillips: Not as much as they used to which is why they are in trouble!

Perhaps Blackdog may book this caravan -as model for his painting series - yes, a melancholy picture- and b&w is very fitting! I read about the economical problems of Thomas Cook - but just a great brand may survive! Yes, the internet competition is a great challenge!
Bill Phillips: It would be sad to see them go. i thought of Blackdog when i took this picture!

Mmmmm lovely..a caravan holiday in Droitwich Spa in 2012 to look forward to.

Life has suddenly become worth living again!
Bill Phillips: You could hire a boat and enjoy the restored canal.

Now I'm sure that my dad had a caravan very similar to this. We seem content to stay in a muddy field and walk through cow pats to get to rudimentary toilet facilities in those days. Touring caravans on the roads are a no. 1 hate for me now. I've not used a travel agent for holidays for many years.
Bill Phillips: I think we had a holiday in one a bit like it when we were first married. i remember trudging across to the toilet in the night!

Now you really are treading on Blackdog's toes Bill. Expect dark material to be pushed through your letter box.
Bill Phillips: I saw this and thought of Mike when we were with Trimbo.

Wonderful, a classic van just waiting to be loved again. They should knock down those awful houses behind and give it some room!
Bill Phillips: As the advert used to say...i saw this and thought of you grin
I would love to help them out
Bill Phillips: Use those Air miles !
I like the shapes of these old caravans. Very nice picture Bill!
Bill Phillips: I liked it when they had gas lighting!
Unlikely I think, Bill - like many others I haven't used a travel agent, other than those online, for years now.
Bill Phillips: Like a lot of high street shops the internet is spelling their doom
I usually book almost all our holidays/weekends online these days. A bit of a sad sight to see caravans dumped like this, someone could be getting pleasure out of it, as long as I'm not behind them when they are towing it somewhere!
Bill Phillips: This was from our visit to Trimbo at the railway.
I remember my Aunt & Uncle having one very similar to this when I was a young girl, Bill. Could it really be that old?
Bill Phillips: I suppose that depends how old you are Beverly. I am sure you are not old enough to remember this style of van
Needs to go onto a caravan system restore programme
Bill Phillips: Or just breaking up for scrap!
Poor thing... but a great B&W.
Bill Phillips: It would have looked too nice in colour grin
Is breakfast and a steak supper included in the price.
Bill Phillips: Bowl of cornflakes and a MacDonalds if you are lucky Mick
