Thomas may not last much longer...I think they have lost the plot with Internet competition.
Bill Phillips: a lot of companies just don't seem to have grasped the significance of the internet. Frankly it does not surprise me. The Motor industry failed to see change coming in this country and was swept away by Japanese cars and motorcycles.
Perhaps Blackdog may book this caravan -as model for his painting series - yes, a melancholy picture- and b&w is very fitting! I read about the economical problems of Thomas Cook - but just a great brand may survive! Yes, the internet competition is a great challenge!
Bill Phillips: It would be sad to see them go. i thought of Blackdog when i took this picture!
Now I'm sure that my dad had a caravan very similar to this. We seem content to stay in a muddy field and walk through cow pats to get to rudimentary toilet facilities in those days. Touring caravans on the roads are a no. 1 hate for me now. I've not used a travel agent for holidays for many years.
Bill Phillips: I think we had a holiday in one a bit like it when we were first married. i remember trudging across to the toilet in the night!
I usually book almost all our holidays/weekends online these days. A bit of a sad sight to see caravans dumped like this, someone could be getting pleasure out of it, as long as I'm not behind them when they are towing it somewhere!
Bill Phillips: This was from our visit to Trimbo at the railway.
