A very nice picture Bill, these huge gates must be hard to open.
Bill Phillips: Actually they aren't judging from watching a chap opening them.

You have conveyed a sense of a weakened sun, Bill.
Bill Phillips: Still had a bit of warmth in it though

I rarely if ever shoot into the sun but your shot here works extremely well
Bill Phillips: This was one of my better efforts. Most are a total disaster

Oh, a fine picture of the famous, newly restored canal in Drotiwich -and what a special glorious sun (oh, Master of Twiddle, I know what you did!), an All Saints' Sun!
Bill Phillips: No twiddle here Philine. A small adjustment to the curves and a slight tone map, oh and a bit of cloning out of some lens flare....oh

This was once the quickest way to leave town if one did not own a horse. The sun is in my eyes Bill.
Bill Phillips: Walking was probably quicker. You shouldn't look directly into the sun it is bad for your eyes
So the narrow boats go in this canal? I love the clouds in this.
Bill Phillips: They do indeed. There is a small Marina actually in Droitwich and a 230 boat Marina is currently being built just outside the town. It is quite exciting!
Nice scenery Bill. I like the way they have restored the canal. On Johnny Duncan post, I have written a few books on music and trains, but missed Duncan's theme I guess out of his odd biography (Tennessee, UK, Australia). So thank you for bringing him back...
Bill Phillips: Thank you Juan Carlos. It has taken about 40 years and involved digging a new tunnel under the motorway but I think it will be well worth it as there are already quite a few boats using it and when the new Marina is completed there will be many more. My pleasure to reintroduce Johnny Duncan smile
Really like how you've captured the sun's rays hitting the gate, Bill.
Bill Phillips: That was largely luck smile

Autumn? looks more like mid-summer. I feel that sun piercing my eyeballs. smile
Bill Phillips: As i told Chad you are not supposed to look directly into the sun
Is there a song ''The sun gets in my eyes '' to run alongside ''Smoke gets in my eyes''
Bill Phillips: No but I could write one if you like
Nice shot Bill, is this a new lock built for the canal basin I seem to remember you referred to earlier this year.
Bill Phillips: It is one of several new locks. This one is between Droitwich and Hanbury
Looks like a strange sundial to me...
Bill Phillips: This was the height of technology once upon a time
It's looking good. Hope so because my boy has just gone to live there.
Bill Phillips: Whereabouts? It is a nice town. Tell him to come to our book sale on the first Saturday of the month. Parish Centre St Andrews Street, next to the church. books 50p !!!
Is that the morning star Bill... great sun flare.... i like the framing of the old lock gate and the canal....petersmile
Bill Phillips: That is the SUN Peter. It does shine here sometimes grin
Opening canal gates, usually the ladies chore for narrowboat couples, navigation requires more skill smile Nice capture.
Bill Phillips: funnily enough a bit later we watched a boat going through and the bloke did the gate and the woman was steering!

Interesting starburst effect!
Bill Phillips: everyone always thinks i have done twiddly things. This picture is not much altered from the original other than an adjustment to the curves and a mark in the sky was cloned out. the sun really did come out like like more or less....honest grin

Beautiful capture of sunlight!
Bill Phillips: Thank you Beth. We don't get all that much practice capturing the sunlight in this country gringringrin
The lines of the sun flare, canal and balance beam work very well here, Bill.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Graeme. I was quite pleased with it
