This is very nice Bill. The light shows the wonderful paintings, and the great color of the wall.
Bill Phillips: Thank you Frances. It is only recently that the National Trust has started allowing photography inside the houses. No flash is allowed as it could damage the fabrics which suits me as I don't like using flash

You are jump-starting the spooky season, Bill. Nice one!
Bill Phillips: Do you think i should have photoshopped in a pumpkin?
A wonderful little composition -a cozy spot for sure.
Bill Phillips: I love these corners of National trust houses

A strange table lamp: I think it's uncle is a chandelier
Bill Phillips: It wants to be one when it grows up

Oh, a finely lit, cosy corner! Sadly, I have never been in Stourhead House. This seems to be a must see, too! Thank you very much for the link! - yes, Alan Power is the Head Gardener I listened to some days ago - I'll listen to BBC later after I have done some duties at home.
Bill Phillips: The house is nice but it is rather overshadowed by the gardens! The link has some lovely pictures of the gardens taken on Wednesday of this week

The lighting gives an impression of how it might have looked a couple of hundred years ago
Bill Phillips: This would have been candles then of course, it's a shame they can't do that now although we went to a candlelit evening at Havington Hall a few years ago ant that was really seeing it like it used to be....dark!

Love the title BITS and Doing
Bill Phillips: I think it is an expression my daughter Helen uses!

Your National Trust houses are a treat for the eye, Bill, especially in your hands. Well done.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Ginnie. The National trust does a good job

Wonderful light and composition.
It is like Ginnie says, they do a great job with the NT Houses.
It keeps it alive and we can adore them.
Bill Phillips: We love going to the houses and gardens. Pleased to see you are both back safe. Hope you had a great time

You are turning Stourhead into a place of mystery Bill.
Bill Phillips: come with me to the twilight zone
I love red walls. This is nice light too.
Bill Phillips: In the right place they can look fantastic.
'Excuse me sir ... no photographs'
Bill Phillips: Are snaps allowed?

This is lovely Bill - I love the softness and the rich hues.
Bill Phillips: I am quite happy to exchange a little sharpness hand held at about half a second to get a bit of atmosphere. i'll leave it to the pros to do the pictures for the books the national trust flog
Glad they don't permit flash photography inside, Bill. As this image so beautifully proves, you get much more atmosphere without it.
Bill Phillips: i think so too Beverly. Plus can you imagine how annoying it would be if flashes were going off all the time?
Great shot Bill, there couldn't have been much light available. Am I the only one who looked at the video link, it looks a lovely place, I checked, it is about 160 miles from us, a bit too much for Maureen there and back in a day, perhaps will be go down and stay over somewhere at sometime.
Bill Phillips: Try the Travelodge offers Brian. They currently have one of their £10 offers on. This is for Jan-Mar 2012 but later they will have more for later in 2012. They are no frills but clean and we stayed in one when we went to stourhead

I enjoyed the feature about Stourhead garden and revelled in the autumnal colours - more trees and leaves, i.e. the tulip-tree, than buildings were shown, but I felt like I were there for some minutes! If I would live in the near of Stourhead, I would go there in the weekend. We have nice temperatures and a second Indian summer, our children have holidays!
Bill Phillips: I thought you would. It has been beautiful here today and we had a walk by the restored canal this afternoon and I took a lot of pictures . I have posted a few starting tomorrow.
And a very nice corner.
Bill Phillips: Thank you John. I liked it smile

Bill Phillips: Good, you won't be disappointed!
A lovely little corner bill. Nice soft lighting and colours.
Bill Phillips: Thank you Janet
Wow, very nice photo!
