Bits and doings 16

Also from Salisbury Cathedral

These two strings walk upto a bar... The first string walks in and orders and the bartender throws him out and yells "I don't serve strings in this bar... The other string ruffs himself up on the street and curls up and orders... The bartender shouts, Hey, didn't you hear what I told your buddy?" String says "Yeah." Bartender says, "aren't you a string?" ... String says, "No, I'm a frayed knot..."

A truly wonderful picture Bill I like the tree in this one, and the wonderful color of the stone.
Bill Phillips: Thank you Frances. The cloisters are rather splendid
Can't put my finger on it, Bill, but there's something very soothing about this image.

Good bar joke. I wonder how many there are like that.
Bill Phillips: There are hundreds of them Beverly.

Ole Tiffo seems to have more hair than usual, Bill...did you make this shot a few years back?
Bill Phillips: Would have to be before colour film came out
I really like this one alot Bill! I love the treatment, and composition -- really well done!
Bill Phillips: Thank you Elizabeth. I'm delighted you like this
You've done well here Bill ... and I'm ashamed to say that the joke made me snigger ... damn it.
Bill Phillips: It is a very silly joke but you can't help a snigger at it. Pleased you like the picture Mr Trim

Bill Phillips: Same place as the others. There are hundreds of them

Fine architecture despite the greyness of treatment (?) -the cloister as I assume - the tall, big trees may be a delight!
Bill Phillips: It was a grey day, I just helped along a bit. It is indeed the cloisters

This one feels a bit spooky - too realistic. But a great photo
Bill Phillips: The sculptures are very realistic Elizabeth

Great photo love the joke
Bill Phillips: a golden oldie but it still makes me laugh
The treatment makes this seem Halloween like or something- cold and spooky.
Bill Phillips: i just wanted it stark and simple
I like this shot Bill. He looks like he's turned to stone.
Bill Phillips: Well bronze anyway Janet grin

I'm sure this stone figure would appreciate some of your jokes. I like the wonderful arches.
Bill Phillips: He'd fall off his bench laughing Alan

This is Tiff dreaming up his next frictional SC character Bill.
Bill Phillips: Tiff in a wig
I like this a lot, makes a great thoughtful and poignant image.
Bill Phillips: Thanks John. I think this is the best of the statues that I saw

"The Indifferent Sky (2011) A man dressed in simple clothes sits alone. He displays an intensity and sense of internal struggle that is reinforced by the rusted steel bench, tapering towards the ground, on which he sits. Bronze, cor-ten steel, all weather paint, 237 x 120 x 149cm."
Bill Phillips: I must confess I see it more in terms of dock of the bay by Otis Redding
If that's the best you can do while sitting there, drawing in the inspiration from the architecture, I'm afraid there's no hope, Bill.
Bill Phillips: He may be solving the problems of the world Tom. It's the people rushing about spouting the latest meaningless buzzwords that worry me

Bill Phillips: Salisbury is a fine cathedral. One of the best from the outside. this is in the cloisters

Love the composition but hate the treatment (sorry!) I'm sure it would be much better au naturel.
Bill Phillips: It's only a bit of De-saturation and a blur layer. It was going to be B&W originally as the light was dull and flat

Like the joke, less than happy about the twiddle - but then you knew that ;o)
Bill Phillips: It was this or b&w Mike as it was a dull old day. Still at least you and Ingrid agree so i haven't provoked an argument grin
Great picture
Bill Phillips: Thanks you very much Graeme
Funnily enough, I'd (k)not heard that joke before. Very good.
Bill Phillips: Honest?????
At least you can be certain this guy won't move just as you are taking the shot, good picture Bill.
Bill Phillips: Couldn't get him to smile though
