I don't know what the flower is but I think the butterfly is a small copper.

I just love this song

The flower is a yellow daisy, Bill.
The flutterby could be a Small Copper, but you will need to try to get closer than 100 metres for the shot if you want positive identification...

[grin]
Bill Phillips: Apparently it is ragwort which is deadly to farm animals, but not butterflies
I think it makes a nice photo to stand back a bit personally... You get more of the plant and the grasses surrounding it. If were taken in Arizona I'd say that was an Axehead Butterweed (Senecio multilobatus). Maybe some species of Senecio though- there are several!
Bill Phillips: Apparently it is Ragwort and poisonous to Farm animals
After the expert comments Bill ....i would like to put in my two centssmile
this is a great soft photo of lovely flowers with a equally lovely butterfly....shot with perfect depth of fieldsmile.....well done mate....petersmile
Bill Phillips: You, sir, are a gentleman

Correct. The plant is Ragwort: one of the deadliest things animals can eat. If my other half finds just one of these growing on the farm there is all hell to pay...
Bill Phillips: I have heard about ragwort but didn't know this was it. I will avoid eating it

I love the photo today here
Bill Phillips: Thanks Chantal
Nice and simple..Love the colours Bill.
Bill Phillips: A bit like me then grin (Well the simple bitgringrin)
Very nice indeed. Love the butterfly and its colour contrast with the yellow flower.
Bill Phillips: It is just a bit of summer and when the sun shines rural Worcestershire is as good a place to be as anywhere
We used to send the kids out on ragwort picking expeditions and they got 2p per plant with root. You have made this one look quite special
Bill Phillips: I bet they enjoyed themselves too!
I've seen this stuff about without knowing what it is. It and the butterfly make a good picture though.
Bill Phillips: I haven't got much idea either Brian
Lovely shot and I also enjoyed the song. Still humming it in my head smile
Bill Phillips: This has long been one of my favourite songs. Janice Ian wrote some great dtuff
Nice feel to this Bill
Lovely capture, Bill. Even if it is Ragwort, it still makes a beautiful picture, especially with that colourful butterfly perched on its petals.
