Wells 5

I wonder how many feet have trodden up and down these steps over the centuries? Hopefully an even numberTongue out

I mentioned to Chris yesterday that I had been to a fashion show. This was it... in aid of Acorns children's hospice and we made over £500

Left pic is a corker, Bill...shows the wear on the steps nicely.
Bill Phillips: Many feet must have passed up and down over the centuries

Love the fashion show with non-traditional models, Bill. Great turnout! Congrats on a successful Fundraiser. Like the collection of steps, too.
Bill Phillips: The models were the shop staff and volunteers from the Acorns shop. It was a lot of fun
I love the staircases! how amazing!
Bill Phillips: They could tell a tale!

Oh yes, I remember well the many steps, worn out steps leading to the Chapter House (on the left and right) - and no photographer could resist to take them from below and from above - fine, impressive images!

Love the fashion show - attractive models, finaly no twiggy figures, but normal ladies of a certain age - but I had expected you as male model, too?
Bill Phillips: M&Co who hosted the event only sell ladies fashions, so I was only there as a helper!

You have created a real feeling of space here in this very agreeable composition
Bill Phillips: Thank you very much. I appreciate your comments

You at a fashion show? Were you on the cat walk? I'm working from home today so I can get a sneaky look at the video whilst having a cuppa later. The stairs show plenty of wear close to the handrail.
Bill Phillips: A ladies clothes shop so i was safe from modelling

I've seen the video now. Good to see a fashion show for normal-sized people. I'm sure I did see you; were you wearing a spotty dress and doing some compering?
Bill Phillips: Haha. The models were the shop staff and volunteers from Acorns. My good friend Val Errington was the compère and Ange was on raffle duty. The girl with the red spotted top on the mic is my daughter Kathryn

I can just hear all those ancient people grumbling, "These stairs are killing me"
Bill Phillips: Well they are all dead so they were right

You can add Ingrid and I to the total of pairs of feet! (Although she is so light on her feet I doubt blame for the erosion can be attributed)
Bill Phillips: Ingrid has famous feet.

That's the first time that I've been described as light on my feet, especially by my husband! There is a famous photograph of these steps entitled Sea of Stepshttp://www.philamuseum.org/collections/permanent/66293.html
Bill Phillips: Husbands are not known for complimenting their wives.
The steps haven't changed a lot since 1903 have they?

You have taken some lovely shots inside this place Bill, I love the left picture.
well done on raising so much money smile I was trying to spot you in the video smile
Bill Phillips: I am not in the video although both Ange and Kathryn are
Again Bill, a great set of pictures. Very interesting. Happy to hear you did well at the show.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Frances. Even i enjoyed the fashion show, and I know nothing about fashion!
Good views of the steps Bill. Now I know what I'm in for. Well done on the fashion show too. It looks like it was a fun event
Bill Phillips: It was and we have had a number of people who came tell us how much they enjoyed it. I have to say the staff at M&Co really put a lot of effort into it and gave up their time too.
Very good triptych Bill, I guess those stairs will have sent a lot of feet. Well done on the fashion show, your Lions certainly seem to collect a lot of money for the hospice.
Bill Phillips: This was organised by Acorns and M&Co, some of the Lions wives helped as did Ange and I but then we also are volunteers at the shop!
The evenness couldn't be guaranteed, Bill - loss of limbs was a very common problem in years past!
Bill Phillips: The thought of a lot of one legged folk hopping up an down is rather sad

So, the fashion models ran up and down these steps. When they didn't trip they earned a couple of quid?
Must have been great watching all the girls compete.
Bill Phillips: now that is an idea, a fashion show in a cathedral!
excellent view of the steps
Bill Phillips: Thank you Ayush
