Only ever seen from the outside Bill, I now want to get inside as well. A fine place indeed.
Bill Phillips: You will not be disappointed Les. It is beautiful

Yup! I can see evidence of the point you are making, Bill.
Bill Phillips: I don't think I was able to really do it justice Ray

Didn't know you went inside: any misericords there?
Bill Phillips: Yes there are and Philine has kindly supplied an informative link

Oh, you are so right - and I well remember the wonderful evensong on 4th September 2010 when I went through the rood screen to the choir stalls and sat on just one of these seats, only the songs the choristers and we ourselves sung were a bit different.(I never dared to say 'I am a cathedral'wink
Bill Phillips: A memory to treasure Philine. to hear choristers in a great cathedral is a wonderful sound

Reading Alan's words "I've not been inside since I was a child" I have to recall the words of a very likeable English gentleman in our study group who (working in Germany) visited after 30 years England as 'tourist' again - he took part in the evensong (like me) and was very moved by it, he said "I just feel I have returned to my childhood".
Everybody who wants to get inside should try to join such an evensong and to look at the cathedral shining in the evening light.
Bill Phillips: It is very interesting to visit somewhere you remember from childhood and to see it now through the eyes of an adult.

Red, green and gold provides for beautiful highlights. The inside of this church is so alive compared to many others.

I remember a male choir practicing when I visited this place. I missed an hour in the pub, to listen to them.
Bill Phillips: And well worth the sacrifice I would imagine

A fine interior - never been inside but must make the effort to go there when I'm next in Bath. Listened to the first few bars of I am a Cathedral - it reminded me how truly dreadful some of the music of that era was!
Bill Phillips: Ere missus I bought that record gringringrin

I bet you say that to all the cathedrals Bill.
Bill Phillips: Most of them Chad
your angle is great here
Bill Phillips: Thank you chantal.
A very nice place to be Bill. I will visit Wells on my next trip to the UK.
Bill Phillips: It is wonderful and well worth a visit on your next trip

Only been once, a long time ago, but have to agree it is up there with Durham and the best of the rest.
Bill Phillips: For me this ranks alongside Durham and Ely as my favourites I think
Even in all its splendor, Bill, it has a very warm & welcoming feeling.
Bill Phillips: It has a lovely atmosphere Beverly. One of my favourites of our cathedrals
Stunning building and great pov, Bill
Bill Phillips: It is wonderful and I couldn't do it justice Tom
Fine looking choir and I bet that organ sounds good.
Bill Phillips: didn't get to hear it but i am sure it does

I remember to have sung this song during our evensong: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAJbMcQRfy0 - I must say that the spiritual songs in the Anglican church are especially beautiful and melodious.
Oh, what a brilliant choir! (http://www.wellscathedral.org.uk/music-the-choir/music-and-the-choir/) And I saw how proud the parents of the choristers were, some of the new choristers were introduced in this evening by the Dean. (The Dean greeted me with a gentle smile as he entered the Quire but I'll never know why?)
Bill Phillips: It is quite something to think of a choir being over 1100 years old. Love divine is a beautiful hymn. I think the people there are friendly. I can't recall what his position was but we were greeted in a very friendly fashion as we were wandering around
I can't wait to go there. I've taken a note of the service times. Nick will like going back as he went to school there.
Bill Phillips: It will not disappoint Janet
Great shot Bill
Bill Phillips: Thanks very much smile
It is a magnificent building Bill. Thanks for the Peter Sarstedt video - I loved his music and had forgotten about this one
Bill Phillips: I think it was his first single, and I do actually have a copy!
