I think Verbena is a delightful plant. You see it quite a bit in  National trust gardens and it really seems to attract insects, particularly butterflies. We have just planted one in our garden and if it takes I think we will get more. It also seeds itself apparently. this picture is not our garden...I wish!

Great colour again.
Bill Phillips: It is a lovely colour John
Nice photo of these lovely flowers. We have Verbena in Arizona as well. Ours are very low growing mounds- but same beautiful color!
Bill Phillips: The colour is lovely. The plant itself is quite small but sends up these long flowering stems

Yes, you are right (Steifes Eisenkraut in our language- a bit funny name)- beautiful colour! -whereas the roses appear to have finished their season, here they are still living.
Bill Phillips: Roses are going strong here too, these must be an early variety, either that or they just needed dead heading

Agreed it is a multi-purpose plant: and a very pretty one at that
Bill Phillips: I'm rather taken with it and have planted one in the garden, I think others may follow

Hmmmm.. this his a hint of gardening activities; not something that I do apart from the bi-annual weed killing. I do like to see the efforts of others, though.
Bill Phillips: I enjoy a potter in the garden. I have no idea what I am doing though
Very beautiful with the rich saturation.
Bill Phillips: I think it is a delightful plant Mary
Lovely strong purples
Bill Phillips: Ain't they just?
nice plant indeed
Bill Phillips: I like it very much Chantal
I love the pop of purple on the long stems... and the fading roses also give the photo extra texture.
Bill Phillips: Thank you Jacquelin. The lovely old wall helps too
It is a nice plant Bill, Maureen planted two a few years ago, and after a bit we had considerably more with no effort from us at all. They have now all disappeared to that great big plant centre called "the tip!"
Bill Phillips: The chap at the garden centre said they see themselves...my kind of plant!
If it seeds itself, then perhaps you may not need to buy any more. Be lucky!
