Hanbury Fete 2011

Taken by Ange so this is probably her debut on Shutterchance!

The village of Hanbury near Droitwich holds a very successful annual fete in the grounds of Hanbury Hall. The National Trust are very helpful to them and a lot of funds are raised. We normally have a stall and this year made about £350 so it was a good day, despite some very heavy showers!

Everyone has to start somewhere Bill, and Angie has made a decent effort indeed.

I'm down your way this weekend, SVR War Weekend and the wartime in the Vale event just up from Evesham, I do hope you have organised some good weather for the region.
Bill Phillips: Sounds like you are in for a good weekend. I don't think i will be able to get to either of these events...I have missed every special weekend on the SVR!!

Ange has some talents, Bill...nicely in focus and exposed correctly...but, she might need some assistance with subject matter choices!

[grin]
Bill Phillips: The text should have been moved to the left
This is technically the best image that has ever appeared on ''yellowbear''. You have seriously gone up in my estimation as far as photographic talent goes Bill.

Oh gawd! I have just read that Angie took the image. I thought it was all seeming too good to believe.

[grin]
Bill Phillips: She did well once she found the shutter button

Waaaa!!! I have just dropped my ontbijt onto my foot when first seeing Ange's delightful picture of you dressed like a health & safety obsessed idiot in a field.

£350 is a respectable sum
Bill Phillips: gotta have the hi viz these days. I often wonder why.

Yellow is the dominating colour- but the picture doesn't take Yellowbear but Angela - a fine portrait of yourself ( oh, the diet is very successful!) and the good charity activities - and as I heard the book sale and the fete were very succesful, too!
Bill Phillips: Yes we have had a couple of good events. Next weekend is the opening of the canal and the start of the music festival ( a far cry from Handel) and we have the carpet shop again along with Acorns so that could be good
Fine debute by Angie. She even managed to put in some words. Great!
Bill Phillips: LOL! I did the words Ange is the photographic star!

I love seeing you in your element, Bill...after all the times you've told us about your book sales. £350 is worth one or two bacon buttie, for sure. smile
Bill Phillips: We did a variety of things at the fete including books, a tombola and a raffle for a hamper and the key game.

I stopped eating my ontbijt and am looking at you, you realy do look great and I think you feel great too.
You can be proud of the £350.
Is there any change that Ange is going to post on SC more often as a guest-blogger?
Have a great day....it is Friday, one more (long) day at work for me wink
Bill Phillips: I have to work today! If Ange does a guest appearance it will be about once a year as that is how many pictures she takes tongue

Village fetes are a lovely tradition and generally the cake stall is well worth a visit. Pleased to see you wearing the mandatory hi-vis vest; book selling is a very risky business.
Bill Phillips: They had some cakes. We do cakes at our monthly sale...they are very popular!

You could have given Angie some pointers, e.g. find better photographic objects or such grin

On the 11th we (family effort) operated a book stall like this in eMalahleni during a fete. Managed to rake in £300 and the left-over books went to various old age homes, etc. Could have made double if we had more children's books.

Money goes to the San upliftment effort in Namibia.
Bill Phillips: The subject matter left a lot to be desired! Well done with the books!

Good work with the sale, £350 is a tidy sum... and you got to wear a hi-viz jacket. A new strategy for blending in with the crowd ;o)
Bill Phillips: It is there to ensure safety. Who's and what the dangers are I do not know. But I like the cap
Fund raising is always good
Bill Phillips: It is indeed Chantal
Keep up the good work Bill. I would never have guessed it was a book stall smile
Bill Phillips: We like to help our customers in any way we can John grin

Nice start! Sounds like it was a good day.
Bill Phillips: It was a good day Scarlet despite a few very heavy showers of rain!
A big round of applause for Ange for the fine shot and for your Lions for a successful book sale.
Bill Phillips: There are not too many pictures of me because I am usually the one with the camera!

I bet you were too kind to berate her with, 'You've chopped my legs off again'.
Bill Phillips: I have horrible feet so it was a kindness

Great work Ange 350 a good day
Bill Phillips: We were pleased with the result. Actually I like this picture of me, it is quite flattering grin
Well Ange mad a very good job of this shot Bill, just look at all those books waiting to be browsed.
(We are off to Minehead with a party on Sunday for a few days, I will give Chris and Chad metaphorical waves as we pass them by on the way down the Fosse and you as we pass your M5 junction next Saturday on the way home.)
Bill Phillips: Have a good trip. I will wave back
