So can I Bill, it stood in the back yard and weighed a ton at least. An evil machine I was always frightened of catching my fingers in it.
Bill Phillips: They were hard work Les!

Wonderful technology, Bill...
Bill Phillips: Certainly looked built to last
My word! I have never seen one of those before... hope your net probs get resolved...
Bill Phillips: It is a fearsome beast Larry
I remember very well our old wringer washing machine which resembled this a bit. A neighbour girl used to show us scars on her arm which she said she received from getting tangled in one.
Bill Phillips: The last of them were electric and lethal!
Great photo Bill and the treatment fits the age of the mangle.... we called them ringers here in CA.... but i have never seen one this old... if you watched your Grandmother use one of these....than YOU must be as old as dirtgrin....petersmile
Bill Phillips: LOL! Well the one she used was a bit more modern!

Promise not to laugh if I tell you I can remember using a mangle, too, Bill?! grin But it was a little more modern this this one. HA! With 10 people in the family, I think Mom thought it made more sense, back when cotton sheets were not wrinkle-free!
Bill Phillips: Of course I won't laugh. The one we had was more modern than this but the principle was the same!
Fabulous equipment! Sorry for not commenting for so long, I was on vacation
Bill Phillips: hope you had a good vacation Marion. Good to see you back. I must pop over and se what you have been up to on your site.

Oh.. b&w seems right for this.
Bill Phillips: Agreed Alan
Yes my Grannies had mangles as well, as did my Mum, but like Ginnies, it was a bit more modern.
Bill Phillips: Yes ours was a bit more modern too
Bragging about your age ..I can equal your childhood washing experiences
Bill Phillips: I was very young at the time tongue

My grandmother had one of those, my mother used it too... I still can remember that my mom bought a washing machine.....
hope the Internet is fixed soon... what will we do without it wink
Bill Phillips: It comes and goes, yesterday was a go day. The provider has been no help at all. I think I will change when the high speed becomes available.
