Bits and doings 8

Valency

The number of atoms of hydrogen that an atom or group displaces when forming a compound.

Thus water is H2O as Hydrogen has a valency of 1 and oxygen 2

This remids me of a poem

Little johnnie's dead and gone

His voice we'll hear no more

For what he thought was H20

Was H2SO4

Well, poetry aside, I like the photo- very pretty jugs and they look interesting lined up on the sill like that.

Great angle and wonderful colours.
I love the poem, but I do hope a doctor was close by after he swallowed the sulfuric acid.....
Bill Phillips: That's the trouble there was no doctor in sight!

I can remember fiddling around sulfuric acid at school; I wonder if they still allow such fun these days? Lovely old stoneware here.

No cider in the jars then, or even whisky, although that might be pushing one's luck smile
Bill Phillips: Full of Scrumpy perhaps once.
Lovely old jars aren't they.
Bill Phillips: They are Brian. a full one would be even better
Great shot and the use of light here Bill....i am sure that none of these jugs held sulfuric acid - H2SO4 but i like the poem.....smile

I also remember some words to a song that i heard years ago:
"High Ho the Dario there's whiskey in the jar" grin
.....petersmile
Bill Phillips: Thin Lizzy if I recall right!
Those jars look as though they were meant for cider, rather than water!
Bill Phillips: I would have thought so Tom

The crop certainly suits the subject matter. I've got one of these jars but I can't remember what they were used for!
Bill Phillips: I always associate them with cider Ingrid
Oh Bill the poetry is... um - great!!!
Bill Phillips: It is one of those illy rhymes that I remember from my childhood!
