Bits and doings 6

We used to have a neighbour who did quilting. Actually she could do almost anything and is the only woman I have ever known who got excited about buying a Black and decker workmate. I had one once and it took me about an hour to put the stupid thing together. I am not a great one for DIY

Quilting output looks wonderful...fine shot, Bill.
Bill Phillips: It is rather a nice way of recycling!
Your world fell apart when you realised that the DIY mag' you bought didn't mean 'Days in York'
Bill Phillips: Exactly. When people proudly show you their DIY efforts I often think that if I had done that I would keep quiet about it. A chap I used to work with years ago referred to many DIY efforts as "painstaking incompetence"
I am sorry about your handyman complex Bill...but it took me an hour to put my B&D workmate together also....as for your friends abilities....i have to agree that she does great work....her quilt looks to be three dimensionnal.....or is that just your photographic skills!!! ....nope it is a 3D quiltsmile....petersmile
Bill Phillips: I can weild a paintbrush as I used to work in the Paint Industry. That is about it!

I know a woman in Holland who would probably get very excited about a Workmate

My idea of a workmate is someone who does your work for you...
Bill Phillips: She's probably got a full workshop with a lathe and other strange things

Nice capture, I like the sound of the cut of the past neighbour smile
Bill Phillips: She could do anything! She was also a very nice person
that quilt makes the photo all the way
Bill Phillips: Thanks chantal
I love the tumbling blocks quilt pattern. This one is gorgeous.
Bill Phillips: It is nice. I like quilts like this they are very cheerful

Yes, a fine quilt with beautiful and colourful patterns! A good DIV- friend of mine is quilting, too, and sometimes her quilting club (only ladies) would perform some of the loveliest works. Are we in the house of the Midford family?
Bill Phillips: No this is at Tyntesfield I think. There is a quilting club in Droitwich

It's best that such things are left to the experts - those that have builders' bum and do a lot of sucking in through the teeth before giving you an estimate about the size of the national debt. The quilt looks lovely; well done, that neighbour.
Bill Phillips: Every man to his trade I say
Wonderful image. The quilt complements the framed pics so well. Quilting is very big here in North Carolina...
Bill Phillips: I think it is popular here too Larry. To be honest I wish I could do stuff like this but I am inept!
This is a nice picture Bill. A few years ago the local Quilting group had an exhibition in Loughborough Parish Church and believe it or not I actually enjoyed seeing the artistry of these ladies and got some great pattern pictures at the same time.
Bill Phillips: I think it is a splendid thing and wish I could do things like this but I am useless with my hands

Bill, it will not surprise you at all that I once asked and got a B&D workmate for my birthday, I still have it.
Yes, I am the one in Holland Chris does know gringrin...
I love his vision on a work-mate... just call me and I hop over grin.
....and to own a lathe would be wonderful, however I have no room and time right now...
My mom did do quilting, we have one of her quilts on the bed.
This one in the picture is wonderful, just love it.
Bill Phillips: I didn't realise they sold the workmate in Holland, but as they do then it is no surprise grin I gave mine away in the end to someone who actually knew how to use it. I think Chris would be happy with servants. My Grandmother tried to teach me how to do embroidery when I was a child. It was in vain but I still have a tablecloth she embroidered and use it on Christmas day every year. I always spill something on it but it washes out as good as new. It must be over 50 years old.
So instead of Black and Decker, this is Colour and Checker.
