photoblog image GOAL!!!

GOAL!!!

Ange and I went to watch the final of the Worcester Senior cup at Aggborough, the ground of Kidderminster Harriers. We went with Kathryn and Jason. Here you see Stourbridge score the second of their goals against Worcester City. Although Worcester are in a league above Stourbridge they were very much second best on the night.

I got a bit bored in the second half and started playing with some of the gimmicks on the camera.

This shot was from the first half and is three from a burst of pictures.

The final score was 2-0 to Stourbridge and they deserved to win.

Touchline technology would stop ghost goals. Don't know about ghost players, though. Great fun picture.

Your boredom...our pleasure...
Bill Phillips: This was the first half so was not yet bored.

All this rolling about and theatricals that footballers do these days. Back in the good old days they used to just kiss each other
Bill Phillips: They used to just shake hands at one time

Hmmm...I rather like this but I would have preferred the colour to be more saturated
Bill Phillips: Now I'm glad you raised that. I had to tone down the colour as that yellow advertising hoarding totally blotted out the goalkeeper and dominated the picture. a future picture which is a single shot was OK but this multiple picture just didn't work. Bet you are glad you mentioned it aren't you?
Looks like the keeper is being attacked by a lion Bill.
Bill Phillips: Does it? Oh
Oh good gracious Bil what have you done here I ask myself. I think you could make a terrific black and white image out of this if you tried to. I'm chuckling because I remember my days watching football with a nice cuppa tea from the thermos in one hand and a nice packet of salty crisps in the other, those were happy days
Bill Phillips: This is 3 shots from a burst of pictures. With the shutter held down the camera will take a very rapid series of pictures until you take your finger off. I then merged 3 of the pictures. There were 9 originally but it just didn't work with that many. Just a bit of fun really

No wonder Worcester lost Bill, it seems that Stourbridge were employing advanced stealth technology that made it hard for them to be seen by the Worcester players.

Funny how times change. A few years back Bath City were in deep trouble financially and needed to win at Worcester to avoid relegation from the Southern League. They did and two promotions later are playing in the top flight of non league football. Bath City played a league game here against Kiddie but lost 2 - 0. Still out of 4 teams in the league who are part-time, 3 were relegated and Bath City finished 10th.
Bill Phillips: Bath did well this season, as have Exeter city who ,at worst, will equal their highest ever position in the league. They too were nearly extinct until a glorious draw at Old Trafford and a narrow defeat in the replay gave them enough money to get on a decent financial footing. I don't really follow Worcester city but am pleased if they win. This doesn't happen all that often
That is pretty neat! You could have some fun with this feature!
Bill Phillips: This was just a burst of pictures which i then merged three of on the computer using corel
A ghostly capture makes an interesting image.
Bill Phillips: A bit of fun. i am no sports photographer
You managed to get as far as the second half before getting bored then Bill, you beat me by at least 45 minutes!
Bill Phillips: LOL!! I know you don't like cricket Brian but football too? apart for motorbikes are there any other sports you like?
Sorry I failed to say I like the concept of the shot.
Bill Phillips: It was a bit of fun merging them together

Interesting gimmick.
I'd like to see more.
Bill Phillips: All this was was the fast continuous shooting mode. I fired off about 9 pictures as Stourbridge scored and merged 3 of them in Corel. I tried merging all 9 but it didn't work!
That is really a fun feature you have on your camera, Bill. Does it have a name?
Bill Phillips: This was done on the computer by merging 3 pictures from a fast continuous burst of 9 shots
Interesting effect. I bet it would work well on just the ball moving over the field or a car or something as well, it looks good smile
Bill Phillips: This was done on the computer by merging 3 pictures from a fast continuous burst of 9 shots. It could be fun doing it on all sorts of things
A feature that does double vision. I wonder where they got that idea from
Bill Phillips: This was done on the computer by merging 3 pictures from a fast continuous burst of 9 shots
With a team of ghosts, clearly Worcester would have a problem in knowing where they were!
Bill Phillips: The only way Worcester would have won was if the other team had been blindfolded

I went to football match one.. 48 years ago; never been back or felt the need to watch one on TV. However, at least football at this level is more about the game rather than a load of illiterate "celebs".
Bill Phillips: I think a lot of people are preferring to watch lower league football where they just get on with trying to win the game. I would not cross the street to watch the likes of Wayne Rooney or John Terry play.
I think that your imagination has run wild on this one Bill....your treatment makes it look as though the ghosts were replaying a game from a century ago lol....i like it....petersmile
Bill Phillips: A bit of fun. i'm no sports photographer grin

Ha ha, I love Richard T's comment.
It would be interesting to see what this is like in monochrome smile
Bill Phillips: It didn't work SAVO...I tried it!
nice one.
Quite like the effect
Bill Phillips: This started as a burst of nine pictures and I merged three of them
