How funny that she posted a lonely tree today too (a blurry one, of course). It's a beautiful tree, Bill, but I think it's a bit squeezed by the frame, gasping for a bit more space, don't you think?

Bill Phillips: You have a point. I cropped it to fill the frame, perhaps I've overdone it! I've just looked at her tree,as you say blurry but a good picture

Nice dignified shot Bill
Bill Phillips: Cheers Chris smile
And a very beautiful tree it is, too! You know, until I started taking photographs, I really had not noticed how beautiful a `bare` tree can be. (:o)
Bill Phillips: I know what you mean. I remember a talk by a very good photographer who said he only took pictures of trees in winter.

Very English Bill ... Oh I see that you are British yourself. smiles richard.
Bill Phillips: As Tony Hancock said "100 per cent Anglo Saxon with perhaps just a dash of Viking"

At 5:30 am on the east coast of the USA, sitting in a hotel room, I open SC to find that you've posted a tree for me. And so I sat here with your tree on my screen for about 20 minutes in the dark early morning silence. First I looked at your tree and thought about it--so tall, hovering over the dwarfed trees and bushes around it. I like the way it fills the frame. I think that is appropriate for accenting its size in relationship to it's surroundings. The colors are just so sweet and those whispy little branches.

And then I thought about you, Bill, taking the picture and thinking of me--some lady who you've never laid eyes on, who lives quite far away from you, and who comes to your mind when you are taking a photograph of a tree. Isn't it amazing that through images and a few words tossed out on a computer screen, that we can connect in such ways?

Thanks for that. The next time I take a photograph of a tree, I'll think of you.
Bill Phillips: Having a shared interest is why this site works so well. We all enjoy taking pictures and have all learned from each other. If we ever met, who knows maybe one day, we'd have plenty to talk about! Hope you have a good day.
I'd crop the sky out of that shot, Bill. Only joking. Great picture.
Bill Phillips: I thought you might suggest I cropped the tree outgrin CheersChad

After reading Kathryn's comment, I so totally agree about the Magic of how we connect with each other here on SC! When we see something and it reminds us of someone else, THAT is pure joy. I love it, Bill.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Ginnie, no prizes for guessing who I would think of if I saw a cranesmile

A fine specimen, Bill. I'm sure Kathryn will appreciate it. I also agree with the comments about the bareness of trees in winter - far more interesting than summer trees.
Ingrid
Bill Phillips: There is something special about trees in winter. Glad you like it Ingrid.

Educated guess Bill - I think it could be a lime tree - not the citrus type! As for the pic - nice silhouette effect but I think some late afternoon light on it would have lifted the shot.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Ron, Lime it is then. This was nice cold morning light just after the mist had lifted, but I know what you mean..would be a totally different picture.
Treees are allways so nice in winter ! A good one once again Bill !
Bill Phillips: Thank you ZebsmileI agree trees look wonderful in the winter
